We have a well cared for 1915 Hardman Upright Grand that came from my Grandmother. She bought it in the 50’s and had to get rid of it as she downsized. It’s fully functional and tuned to itself. We had it reviewed by our piano tuner and while the soundboard is cracked, it can still hold tune and has more years of use. It is not uncommon for soundboards to be cracked. The primary issue with it is IF piano strings break because of their age, they will not be able to be replaced and tuned. The bass strings are made of brass and deteriorate over time and lose their full sound. The piano is all original with the exception of the ivory keys being replaced. We would love to see it go to a home where it gets played and the only cost is to have it moved – around $400-$500 locally.
