Black 6 ft 10 inch grand Toyo Ser# 162960
Why so large? When I was a child, I practiced at Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto. At age 40, when I was ready to buy my own piano, I realized that the bass notes of the 1st pages of the Rachmaninoff sounded “tinny” until I played a grand this large. Thus, over 6 ½ feet!
Excellent shiny black finish (no small children or pets in the house for the 40 years I had it, and out of drafts and away from AC or heating vents. Though not serviced since COVID, all sound perfectly “in tune” at about A = 436.
A local piano dealer looked up the serial number and discovered it was made in M******** by Toyo in Japan (in production since 1948, toyoapollo.com) and was of good quality. It no longer makes a grand this large. (There is also a Korean Toyo and a Chinese Toyo, both trading off the good reputation in Asia of Japanese Toyo. )
Why available? I’m 82, we’re moving into a retirement home, necessitating massive downsizing
Want good home for this instrument.
Would consider splitting moving, depending on situation.
On GROUND floor. 4 steps down to wide walkway at level of the parking pad. Easy move.
