1947 Marshall and Wendell baby grand piano in need of TLC.
4’6″ long
I acquired this piano as a project – my intention was to use it as a practice project for learning to be a piano technician. I had it evaluated by an RPT to make sure its soundboard is in good shape before I started my project.
I practiced tuning and removed the ivory keytops with intention to replace them and I still have the original ivory tops which will come with the piano.
My circumstances have changed and sadly I need it to find a new home as there is no longer space in mine.
This piano is the perfect project for a beginning/learning piano technician!
It needs everything – voicing, key leveling,
Key tops need to be replaced (original ivories available)
The strings (especially bass) are in need of replacing.
Soundboard in very good condition but needs cleaning inside piano
Case/body has water damage that appears to be aesthetic only. The photo of under the lid and the dampers show that if refinished this wood is stunning!
This piano, when in tune, has a gorgeous, rich and bright tone.
Please, someone rescue this spectacular instrument! It is in very rough shape but has truly amazing potential!
In first floor of open front room, only one step onto front porch.
