PLEASE take my piano! I am MOVING from CT to NC to start my PhD at Duke and I need to get rid of my piano! It was useful while I was studying for my undergrad but I 100% cannot afford the costs of moving this instrument down with me. I would love to have it go to someone, as a last resort I may call a junk/removal service but as it is an old instrument, I would feel better knowing it wasn’t being destroyed.
As this is a big move (I’m also going alone) I unfortunately wouldn’t be able to contribute too much towards the moving cost(s). If someone is willing to do it for free, I would GREATLY appreciate it, but as I know there is a lot of time/effort involved, I would be able to provide up to $100 to help offset. I am very sorry – but with this move, I need to save as much money as I possibly can! For reference: I used River Valley Piano service (in Tolland) last time to move my piano – it was $405 to move from Stafford Springs to Willimantic (around 20 miles).
ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT:
I got this piano in summer 2019 from a nice older woman in Somers – according to her, it used to be in a bar in some college town up in Mass (not confirmed). I tracked the serial number to a database online that suggested this instrument was from 1916! It is a very beautiful instrument and it has been a great source of inspiration over the years as I have developed my performance skills, and although it may not be the best in terms of sound quality (it maintains tuning very well, but has a somewhat uneven action/weight and can sound a little too bright sometimes) it has been my piano and I have loved it.
Full disclosure: the C8 key is NOT working, however, I do have the part(s) available for it to be repaired. I worked with a tuner named Herb Lindahl (I think he was in Manchester) and he helped repair a few parts for me – at the time, I couldn’t afford the total repair/replacement, but he reworked the parts for free so that in the future they could be reglued and set into place! There is some cracking on the veneer towards the bottom of the instrument, as well as a crack on the music stand but everything else is in working order!
PICTURES: First two are in my current apartment. Other images are previous photos at my parents’ house.
Please email/text if you are interested! If you call I likely won’t answer since I don’t have caller ID but if you leave a message I can certainly get back!
